About Typing Monsters
Typing Monsters is a small independent browser game made in Malaysia. It exists because typing practice is useful and typing drills are boring.
Why a typing game?
Typing is one of the few computer skills almost everyone uses every day, and most people learned it by accident. The classic way to improve is repetition: drills, timed tests, more drills. It works, but very few people stick with it.
Games fix the sticking-with-it part. When words are falling toward you and a monster is waiting, you stop thinking about "practice" and just type, quickly and with your eyes on the screen. That pressure trains the habits that make real typing faster: reading ahead, recognising whole words, and staying accurate under time pressure.
What makes it different
- One simple mode. We cut every extra mode and menu so you can start a game in one key press. No accounts, no loading screens full of options.
- Accuracy is rewarded. Your score multiplier only grows while you type without mistakes, so the game nudges you toward clean typing instead of frantic mashing.
- A real WPM test built in. The 30-second test uses the standard five-characters-per-word formula and only counts correct characters, so the number means something.
- Hand-made art. The monsters, hero and effects are drawn as vector graphics in code, not stock images, so the game stays light and loads quickly.
Who it's for
Students learning to touch type, adults who want to stop looking at the keyboard, and anyone who just enjoys a quick arcade game. It's free, runs in any modern browser and needs no download or sign-up.
How it's built
The game is written in TypeScript with React and runs entirely in your browser. Game progress is kept in your browser's local storage. The site is supported by advertising, which keeps it free to play. You can read exactly what data is involved in our privacy policy.
